Napkin Folding Video : Napkin folding heart - Pliage en coeur
To fold a napkin into a heart shape, begin with the napkin fully opened on the table in front of you, in a large square shape. Grasp the bottom left and right corners and fold them over so they meet the top left and right corners, to form a rectangle that is longways horizontally.
Fold the lower left corner of the rectangle up and to the right until the point meets the center of the upper edge, forming a triangle on the left side. Fold the lower right corner of the original rectangle up and to the left until the point meets the center of the upper edge also. If done correctly, you should now be viewing two triangles side-by-side which, together, form a downward-pointing “arrow” shape.
Flip the entire napkin over so that the top of your arrow is pointing upward (away from you). Neaten up the points and smooth out your work, thus far. Take the bottom right corner and fold it up so that it meets the top point of the arrow. Take the bottom left corner and fold it up so that it also meets the top point of the arrow.
You are now viewing a diamond shape comprised of two side-by-side triangles. Fold the top point of the triangle on the left straight downward, halving it, and simultaneously open it to create a square at the bottom left. Fold the top point of the triangle on the right straight downward, halving it, and simultaneously open it to create a square at the bottom right.
Tidy up all of the folds you have created so far. You should now be viewing a shape comprising two squared-off shapes at the bottom (side-by-side) and two triangular shapes (side-by-side) forming a point at the top. Take the two bottom tips of the lower left square and tuck them underneath. Do the same for the lower right square. This becomes the upper two areas of your heart-shaped napkin (except you are viewing it upside down).
Neaten your work and it is ready for display.
