Napkin Folding Video : Napkin folding fan - Pliage en eventail
To fold a napkin into a fan, begin with the fully opened napkin on the table in front of you. Grasp the lower right and left edges and pull them over until they neatly meet the upper left and right edges. To ensure you have no wrinkles, gently pull the lower corners of the newly folded edge, and release.
Next, take the lower corners and fold them one third of the way over the napkin. To ensure you have a firm crease, place the tops of both hands at the lower middle of the napkin's newly folded edge, press, and smoothly glide from the center to the outer edges on each side.
Rotate the napkin 90 degrees counterclockwise. Now you will begin to fan the napkin. To do so, fold one inch of it over and hold. Now, take this newly folded piece and fold in the other direction (underneath). Alternate between over and under until the entire napkin has been fanned.
Rotate the napkin 90 degrees clockwise again, and grasp the thick edge. This becomes the base of the fan. Keep the base together as you gently fan out the top of the fan blades, being careful that they do not lose their pattern.
To add the final touch, continue to hold the base at its sides. The top of the base now has inner folds in each crevice which you grab at their tips and pull upwards to create a floral appearance along the top of the fan's base.
