Napkin Folding Video : Napkin folding bud - Pliage en bourgeon
To fold a napkin into a bud, begin with your napkin laying flat and sideways (in a diamond shape) on the table in front of you. Fold the bottom point upward so that it meets the top point. This forms a triangle. Grasp the napkin from its lower corners and gently pull it toward you. This helps straighten and smooth out any wrinkles. Firm your folded lower edge; to do so, take your fingers on both hands, place them in the center of the bottom edge, press, and move outward to the outer edges.
Take the lower right hand corner and fold it toward the top corner of the triangle. Use your palm to smooth out and firm this fold. Do the same with the lower left hand corner: fold it toward the top of the triangle, then smooth and firm the result.
You now have a smaller diamond, comprised of two triangle shapes. Grasp the point in the bottom corner of the diamond and fold it upward towards the center of the napkin. Now, take the tip of the point and fold it downward towards the bottom. Place your finger tips over this bottom point, with your thumb on the other side of the napkin, and carefully flip the napkin over.
Fold the right side over toward the center. Fold the left side over top of that; the tip of the point will rest on the right edge. Flip the napkin over once again, and pat firmly to ensure it stays folded neatly.
Two points are at the top of the napkin, and there is a “pocket” on the bottom. Pull the point on the left side down and tuck it into the left side of the pocket. Pull the point of the right side down and tuck it into the right side of the pocket.
Rotate the napkin 180 degrees to view the results. It can now be placed upright for display purposes.
